Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr shared a significant update on star forward Jonathan Kuminga during an appearance on the "Willard & Dibs" podcast on Tuesday. Kerr provided a concerning assessment of Kuminga's status, revealing that the forward, currently sidelined with a right ankle sprain, is "nowhere close to being ready to play."
The team's second-leading scorer this season is expected to miss several more games before potentially returning. Kuminga, a 6-foot-7 forward, sustained the injury in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 4. Since then, the one-time champion has been absent for eight consecutive games.
The Warriors have felt Kuminga’s absence as their season continues to spiral. Steph Curry and his squad have lost five of their last eight games and now sit in 11th place in the Western Conference standings, with a disappointing 21-21 record through 42 games.
