NBA fans reacted to Dwight Howard's retirement statement that he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday. According to Howard's post, he isn't ready to retire until the "Greatest Player of All Time" or the GOAT retires. Fans had fun trolling the former lottery pick on social media for this.
Howard hasn't played NBA basketball since the 2021-22 NBA season. The last team he played for was the LA Lakers on a reserve role. The former All-Star averaged 16.2 minutes and came off the bench that year. In the 60 games he played, the 6-foot-9 center averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.
Since then, no team has offered him a contract, making him a free agent. However, it seems he isn't ready to hang it up as he's waiting for the GOAT player to retire first.

"I’m not retiring until 🐐retire," Howard posted.

Given that fans have different opinions on who is the GOAT player, they trolled him on X.
"Jordan has been retired since before you got going," one fan said.
"Well, the 🐐 retired in 2003 so idk why you still playing dawg," another fan commented.
"MJ retired 20 years ago, Dwight. It’s okay to hang em up," a fan said.
Other fans brought up other players as their choice for the GOAT.
"Damn so it’s gonna take you atleast another 15-20 years to retire??" One fan cited GG Jackson II as their GOAT.
"Steph not retiring for another 3-4 years u have some time," another fan commented.
"Jokic is only 29 bro. You gonna be playing through late 40's?" a fan said.

Dwight Howard gets eliminated from Dancing With The Stars
While no NBA contracts have been offered to Dwight Howard, he took the chance to join the reality dance competition, "Dancing With The Stars." According to Howard, he had planned on participating in the show for three years.
Unfortunately for the former athlete, he was busy playing basketball, preventing him from joining the show.
The judges dismissed Howard and his partner, Daniella Karagach, on Tuesday's episode of the show. The eight-time All-Star looked back on his time on the show after he was eliminated.
"Even until the end, we worked hard every day. We didn't get the trophy, but I know I put in 110% every single day and, you know, I'm happy with where we are," Howard said.
Karagach is no stranger to working with tall people. She won the competition's 30th season with former NBA player Iman Shumpert.
