New York Knicks star center Karl-Anthony Towns delivered his best performance with his new team during Wednesday's 116-107 road victory over the Miami Heat. Afterward, Knicks wing Josh Hart reacted in one word, referencing the big man's cat-inspired nicknames.

Wednesday's outing marked Towns' fourth with New York since being acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a three-team deal ahead of the season. The four-time All-Star stole the show, finishing with a game-high 44 points, 13 rebounds and four 3-pointers, shooting 17-for-25 (68.0%).

Towns' standout play helped the Knicks rally from a 13-point third-quarter deficit to get back to .500 (2-2) after a rocky start to the season. It also gave New York's fanbase a preview of the 10-year veteran's offensive ceiling at the five spot.

Following the contest, Hart shared a graphic featuring Towns' stat line on his Instagram stories. In his caption, Hart played along with his new teammate's various cat-based nicknames, stemming from his initials (KAT).

"Meowwwww!!!!," Hart wrote.

Hart also had a productive evening, recording 10 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, one steal and two triples, shooting 57.1%. He and Towns dominated the glass, guiding the Knicks to a 42-39 rebounding advantage.

Karl-Anthony Towns makes history with 44-point performance against Heat

With his 44-point eruption against Miami, Karl-Anthony Towns entered New York's record book.

Towns became the first Knicks center to score 44-plus points since franchise legend Patrick Ewing in 1995.

Moreover, per ESPN, he tallied the fourth-most points by a Knicks player against the Heat.

Entering Wednesday, Towns averaged just 15.3 points per game over his first three outings, with a season-high of 21 points. So, perhaps after his latest performance, he will return to his consistent All-Star-caliber production. Over 62 contests with Minnesota last season, he averaged 21.8 ppg.

Towns and New York (2-2) continue their road trip on Friday when they visit the struggling Detroit Pistons (1-4).
