Holiday came over to the Celtics after being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Damian Lillard. From there, he was later re-routed to Boston.

With his high-level defense, Holiday helped the Celtics form arguably the NBA's top starting lineup. This success translated to the postseason, where they were eventually crowned champions on Monday night.

This now marks the second time in Holiday's career that he helped a team win a title in his first year there, further cementing himself as one of the league's most underrated stars.

Jrue Holiday joins exclusive list following championship win with Boston Celtics

As previously mentioned, Jrue Holiday has now helped two separate franchises win an NBA championship. He made history in this process, being the only player to achieve this feat in his first season with each franchise while playing an expanded role.

Holiday also joined some exclusive company as one of two players to win multiple championships in the 2020s. The other is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who has won titles with the LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

During the postseason, Jrue Holiday did a little bit of everything for the Celtics. Across 19 games, he averaged 13.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 40.0% from beyond the arc.

While his numbers don't jump off the page, Holiday did have multiple standout showings during Boston's title run. The first came in Game 1 of the conference finals against the Indiana Pacers when he erupted for 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Later on, he posted 26 points and 11 rebounds in Boston's Game 2 win in the NBA Finals.

Fresh off turning 34 years old, Holiday proved he is still one of the most impactful high-level players in the game today. Because of his versatility on both ends, the Celtics were among the NBA's most dominant teams.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will rightfully get most of the credit. However, the addition of Holiday was an underrated move that helped get Boston to where they are now.
