Old habits die hard, and Ja Morant proved this as he threw down another powerful dunk just days after declaring a self-imposed dunk ban to avoid injuries. In the first quarter of the Memphis Grizzlies' home game against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, the dynamic guard delivered a highlight-worthy dunk.
After stealing the ball from Nets guard Dennis Schroder, Morant raced down the court on a fastbreak with an open lane to the basket. Before dunking, he paused to showboat, pointing at the Grizzlies bench before slamming the ball through the rim.
Fans on Instagram were amazed by the dunk but humorously pointed out that Morant’s dunk ban didn’t last long.

“Bro can not stop dunking,” one fan added.

“Ja ‘I won't dunk anymore’ Morant,” another called the guard.
Why did Ja Morant say he’s done dunking?
Following the Memphis Grizzlies’ loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 3, Ja Morant explained he stopped attempting dunks to protect himself from injury.
"I'm not trying to dunk at all," he said via CBS Sports. "Y'all think I'm lying. I'm dead serious.
"Sometimes I get knocked out the air and (a foul) don't get called, and now I'm out longer than what I'm supposed to be. Sometimes the foul might get called; I still hit the floor, but after the game you might feel that little fall. So I just pick and choose, man. Hey, two points is two points. I get it done. That's all that matters."
Since entering the NBA, Morant has been known for his incredible athleticism and highlight-reel dunks, but he’s also dealt with multiple injuries, including a shoulder injury that caused him to miss several games last season.
Heading into tonight's game, the Memphis Grizzlies held a 10-4 record with Morant this season. After a rough start due to injuries to key players, the team climbed to No. 3 in the competitive Western Conference.
