Fans were outraged after learning that Bam Adebayo received a 78 overall defense rating in NBA 2K25. The Miami Heat big man has an 88 overall rating, making him the 27th-best player in the game, but his defensive rating left some fans shocked.
According to 2Kratings.com, Bam Adebayo’s 78 defensive rating includes a 93 in interior defense, 83 in perimeter defense, 49 in steal, 67 in block, 73 in lateral quickness, 92 in help defense IQ, 80 in pass perception and 90 in defensive consistency.
Fans were seemingly taken aback by the rating, especially since Adebayo was named to the All-NBA First Defensive Team for the 2023-24 season:

“I’m not a Heat fan but this is just disrespectful man,” commented one fan on X/Twitter.
“Ronnie doesn’t watch basketball I see lmaoo how does he still have a job,” another fan added.
Another fan pointed out that he always thought Adebayo's perimeter defense was stronger than his interior defense, yet the 2K stats suggested otherwise:
“What’s funny about this is that I always considered his perimeter defense better than his inside defense,” one fan noted.
“They just threw in numbers together, 83 perimeter defense and 49 steal is so disrespectful,” another fan added.
In the 2023-24 season, Bam Adebayo had a 109 defensive rating, with a 1.7 defensive box plus-minus and 4.3 defensive win shares. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks for the season.
Looking at the 2K ratings of Bam Adebayo’s teammates
Bam Adebayo, with his 88 overall rating, is the second-highest-rated player on the Miami Heat in NBA 2K25.
The top spot belongs to Jimmy Butler, who has an 89 overall rating. Last season, Butler averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 60 games.
Following Adebayo is Tyler Herro, who holds an 83 overall rating, and Terry Rozier III, with an 80 overall.
Alec Burks, a new addition to the Heat, has a 79 overall rating. Incoming sophomore Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Duncan Robinson both share a 78 overall rating.
Former NBA champion Kevin Love and Nikola Jovic each have a 77 overall rating, while Josh Richardson and Haywood Highsmith are rated at 76 overall.
Meanwhile, Josh Christopher and Thomas Bryant have a 74 overall rating.
The Heat also saw the departures of Caleb Martin, Patty Mills, Delon Wright, Jamal Cain, Cole Swider and Alondes Williams this offseason. However, they strengthened their roster by acquiring Burks and Christopher, as well as drafting rookies Kel’El Ware and Pelle Larson.
