"Just want to be that 3-headed snake"- Aaron Gordon snubs Michael Porter Jr. while listing goals for upcoming season

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is among the many NBA players in Las Vegas taking in Summer League action. While doing a quick interview, the veteran forward made some eyebrow-raising comments.

Since being traded to the Nuggets in 2021, Gordon has helped elevate them into a contender. However, they ended up falling short of a repeat last season. Denver ended up getting eliminated in the second round of the postseason by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While in Vegas for Summer League, Aaron Gordon was asked about his goal for next season. He touched on wanting to make life easier for Nikola Jokic, and referred to himself, Jokic and Jamal Murray as a Big Three.

"“I just want to be that three-headed snake for us," Gordon said. "I want to take a little more pressure off of Nikola and Jamal.”

This comment is interesting, as it leaves out a very key member of the team. That being sharpshooting forward Michael Porter Jr.

Gordon's scoring took a slight dip in 2024, but he has still thrived as a do-it-all forward for the Nuggets. Appearing in 73 games, he averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Aaron Gordon enjoying time with his nephews after his brother's death

Aaron Gordon was not alone in Las Vegas for Summer League, as he brought his nephews to catch the action live. The former No. 4 pick is soaking in some family time following the unexpected death of his brother.

At the end of May, Aaron received the heartbreaking news that his older brother Drew died in an automobile accident. He was driving a motorcycle in Oregon and collided with a truck. Drew wasn't much older than Aaron, as he passed away at the age of 33.

Along with bringing his nephews to the game, Aaron Gordon also got to let them have some fun on the court. During halftime of one of the Denver Nuggets' games, they were seen getting some shots up.

For a brief moment, Drew and Aaron were in the NBA together. During the summer Aaron was getting drafted by the Orlando Magic, Drew managed to secure a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Drew, also a 6-foot-9 forward, did not hang around long in the NBA. He played in just nine games for the Sixers, averaging 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds. After he was released, he never managed to land with another team.

Following his stint with the Sixers, Drew played in the G-League before enjoying a long career overseas. He last played in 2023, the same year his younger brother won an NBA championship with the Nuggets.

Based on his actions, Aaron seems to be doing right by his brother by looking after his children.
