On Friday night, Kate Martin found herself getting drafted for the second time in a calendar year. Thanks to social media, we know exactly how she—not to mention her significant other—felt at the moment.

Claire Gransee, Martin's girlfriend who also hails from the University of Iowa, shared a behind-the-scenes look at her partner's interview after being selected by the expansion team Golden State Valkyries.

In her IG stories, Gransee shared clips that showed Martin on her laptop—just a few meters away from a TV screen where Martin's face was also visible via a live ESPN interview.

Given that Martin was the only Golden State pick who was interviewed after the expansion draft, Gransee knew exactly what to call her.

"Working woman," said Gransee in an IG comment.

Kate Martin: A vital cog of the WNBA's newest team

The budding fanbase of the Golden State Valkyries can expect Martin to put on her working boots night in and night out. Though the numbers in her rookie season aren't extremely flashy, the former Las Vegas Ace brings a number of dependable attributes to the table.

As analyst Andraya Carter pointed out during ESPN's coverage of the expansion draft, Martin is a floor spacer that defenders can't leave wide open. She's especially lethal in the corners, where she shot a respectable 38% for the Aces.

Having surveyed the WNBA terrain for an entire season, expect Martin to become more comfortable with playmaking—a role that she honed for five years with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Just like her backcourt partner Caitlin Clark, Martin was as comfortable dishing the rock as she was scoring it. At the conclusion of her college career, Martin had amassed 1,200+ points, 700+ rebounds, and 450+ assists.

"Honestly, my focus has just been getting better," said Martin in her remote post-draft interview. "I had a decent rookie season, but I just know something that's really cool about me...my ceiling is very high. I have a lot of room to grow."

Martin will do her growing with a talented ensemble of Golden State draftees. These include veteran frontcourt player Temi Fagbenle, defensive stud Kayla Thornton, and promising young shooter Veronica Burton.

In all likelihood, Martin's first season with the Valkyries will be well documented on social media. Next time, Gransee might be taking a video of Martin giving an interview in front of a raucous crowd in Chase Center.
