Chicago Bulls legend Ron Harper sent a message to tennis star Madison Keys after the American player won the first Grand Slam of the season, the Australian Open, against the No. 1 ranked in the world, Aryna Sabalenka.
After Keys beat her opponent in three sets on Saturday, Harper took to X (formerly Twitter) to send her a supportive message and celebrate Keys' first Grand Slam win.
"[Madison Keys] WOW her first grand slam…. Congratulations #AO2025 keep grinding many more to come….." he tweeted.

Going into the game as the underdog, considering she is the No. 19 player in the WTA ranking, Keys pulled off the upset with a 6-3, 2-6 and 7-5 result to beat Sabalenka. She didn't commit double faults, won four of nine break points and completed six aces en route to the victory.
The road to the final wasn't easy, either, as Keys had to beat fellow American Danielle Collins in the third round, No. 6 Elena Rybakina in the fourth round, No. 28 Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinal and No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the semifinal. It wasn't the easiest path at all, but as Ron Harper noted, Keys grinded until she reached her goal.
Harper isn't a stranger to anything happening in the world of sports right now. He's following his sons' journeys closely, as Dylan is a terrific prospect and Ron Harper Jr. is on a two-way deal with the Detroit Pistons.
Ron Harper drops two-word response to Carmelo Anthony's comments on Scottie Pippen's latest GOAT remarks
Ron Harper also had time to react to Carmelo Anthony's comments about Harper's ex-teammate Scottie Pippen, who changed his stance on the GOAT debate a couple of days ago.
Pippen went with Magic Johnson as the greatest basketball player of all time over Michael Jordan or LeBron James, adding that Johnson had more obstacles to win and adapted to different situations, specifically recalling when he stepped up in the Finals, as a rookie, when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was injured.
Anthony was seemingly fed up with how Pippen talked about MJ and LeBron, calling him out for changing his opinion on who the GOAT is whenever he had the chance. Melo recalled all the times Pippen and Jordan supported each other when he asked for Michael's return while wearing his shoes and more.
In the end, Anthony said he can have whatever opinion he wants, but that doesn't mean he can change it based on which player agrees or disagrees with him.
