Popular rapper Drake appears to have earned the wrath of the NBA fandom after an old video of the superstar surfaced on X. According to recent claims, Drake himself did not write the lyrics to his 2018 song "Mob Ties," which was featured on his album "Scorpion."
After a recent claim by Akademiks that the song was written by rapper and songwriter Vory, Drake has faced comprehensive criticism. Vory is listed as a co-writer for the song, with Drake having previously said that he wrote the song.
Regardless, an old video that delves into a conversation between the popular rapper and NBA legend LeBron James has been doing the rounds on X.
The clip, which was shared by World Star Hip Hop, had the following caption:

In the video, Drake told LeBron James that "Mob Ties" was written by him alone. That has led to a range of reactions from NBA fans, as most are angry at Drake for allegedly lying.
A few fans seem angry at Drake, while others supported the rapper.
Drake accused of not writing the lyrics to 'Mob Ties'
While Drake had listed Vory as the co-writer for "Mob Ties," the allegations have been sourced from DJ AKademiks’ recent claim that Vory wrote the song. This was followed by a leak of a "reference song" which Vory had apparently sent to Drake.
Fans can not only notice the lyrics being exactly the same as "Mob Ties," but the soundtrack has obvious similarities as well. However, the reference track in itself only deals with a couple of verses, while the final song includes several original verses that have been said to have been created by Drake.
Furthermore, fans have claimed that while there might be similarities between the two tracks, the fact remains that Drake covered his bases by listing Vory as a co-writer.
Considering the album is his, along with the majority of the lyrics that ended up becoming a part of "Mob Ties," the rapper may be within his rights to present and talk about the song as his own. However, some fans, especially those in the NBA realm, are unhappy with some of Drake’s previous claims, especially regarding what he told LeBron James.
