Kevin Durant is once again headed to the sidelines after sustaining yet another injury in the still young 2024-25 NBA season. The veteran returned from a previous injury last Tuesday against the LA Lakers in an NBA Cup matchup alongside Bradley Beal.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Durant will be re-evaluated in a week after sustaining a left ankle sprain against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.
In Kevin Durant's third game since coming back, the two-time NBA champion only played 16 minutes for the Suns after scoring 13 points, grabbing four rebounds and dishing two assists, shooting 62.5% from the field and 100% from beyond the arc.

The former NBA MVP got hurt after landing on a Spurs player. He left the court with five minutes left in the second quarter and never returned. KD had previously missed two weeks with a calf strain that affected the Phoenix Suns' performances. They went 1-6 without Durant on the court, which explained how important he's for the franchise's potential success.
At the time of picking this injury, Durant was averaging 25.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 53.6% from the field and 44.9% from deep.
The Suns couldn't advance to the next round of the 2024 NBA Cup as the OKC Thunder beat them for the No. 1 spot in their group. Still, the main goal is the NBA championship, but if he can't stay healthy throughout the season, Phoenix will have a tough time trying to make it to the playoffs.
Devin Booker reacts to Kevin Durant's latest injury
After the game, Suns figures reacted to Kevin Durant's injury. His partner in crime Devin Booker shared his thoughts on the situation, labeling it as "tough" for the organization and players.
"Obviously tough. It's impossible to replace what he brings to our team, even just his presence around the team, not even having him on the bench in the second half was tough," Booker told reporters, via SI.
"But we still fought, they came out, punched us in the face to start the half. We just stuck with it, weathered the storm, and it was a growth moment for us."
Mike Budenholzer said that the injuries are part of the league and that they aren't the only team dealing with these absences. Then again, he said they would see how Durant evolves while trying to play hard every night regardless of who's on the court.
