Kevin Durant Injury Update: Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams shares insight on pre-requisites for 13x All-Star's return

Phoenix Suns Introduce Kevin Durant
Coach Monty Williams shared the steps needed for Kevin Durant's return

Fans of the Phoenix Suns are excited to see Kevin Durant return to the basketball court, but there are steps that have to be taken before that happens. Coach Monty Williams shared what needs to be done before the 13-time All-Star can debut for the Suns this season.

Williams said Durant's comfort will be heavily considered before he's thrown into action.

"It's not me. I think it's a combination of, obviously what I see, the medical team giving him clearance. But him feeling the level of conditioning, the level of sharpness that he needs to be at before he steps on the floor.
"Most importantly, it's just making sure he's comfortable. All of our guys wanna get on the floor, and he's as competitive as anybody I've ever been around."

"I'm sure once he gets to a certain level, as far as sharpness and cardio, he'll be back out there."

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Durant could make his debut with the Suns against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. He's currently recovering from an MCL strain and hasn't played since the second week of January.

Despite the addition of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker doesn't believe that the Suns are a superteam

The Suns were able to acquire Kevin Durant during the trade deadline, which has instantly made them one of the favorites to win the title this season. Considering they have three All-Star players on their roster, fans have labeled them a superteam.

However, Devin Booker doesn't buy into that theory.

"We only had one All-Star, that’s KD," Booker said.

Initially, the Suns didn't have an All-Star this season. Booker wasn't voted in as a starter, nor was he included in the reserves. The three-time All-Star missed a number of games due to a groin injury he suffered before their Christmas Day game against the Denver Nuggets.

Chris Paul, on the other hand, has visibly slowed down this season. It looks like Father Time is finally catching up to him, which could explain why he's struggled so much. He can still contribute, but he is nowhere near the star he once used to be.
