Wanda Durant, mother of Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant, remembered her late mom after watching an Instagram influencer's post. Wanda's mother, Barbara Davis, passed away in February 2022, which was one of the reasons why KD wasn't at that year's All-Star Weekend.

In an Instagram post, an influencer couple named Jeremy and Ciara Kilpatrick celebrated their grandmother's 93rd birthday. Wanda commented on the post about feeling the hugs given by all the family members to their grandma on her special day.

"I felt every one of her HUGS 🤗," Wanda wrote.

Wanda Durant had shared the news of her mother's death on Instagram. It happened near that year's All-Star break, which was one of the reasons why Kevin Durant was unable to attend the festivities.

"It is with great sadness that we share with family and friends that our Dear Sweet Mama, BARBARA A. Davis, transitioned early this morning. Words can not describe how our family feels doing this time. We want to thank everyone for their prayers, condolences, and well wishes. God is GOOD and His PEACE comforts all of us," Wanda wrote.

Durant was already scheduled to miss the All-Star Game due to a knee injury at the time. However, he was still slated to appear because of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team celebration.

Because of his grandmother's passing, KD was unable to attend and had to be acknowledged via a video feed.

Kevin Durant's biggest supporter has always been her mother, Wanda Durant, who continues to watch his games. Wanda was at the 2024 Paris Olympics when KD became Team USA's all-time leading scorer after breaking Lisa Leslie's record of 488 points.

Wanda told the Associated Press how excited she was when Durant broke the record and cemented his legacy as one of the United States' best Olympians.

"I was so excited about it," Wanda said. "And Kevin said to me, 'Mom, you know that's not what I do this for.' I know it's not what he does it for, but his family and friends were so excited for another accomplishment of his."
