Kevin Durant stats in Olympics
Kevin Durant is the most decorated player at the Olympics in the men’s basketball category. The two-time NBA champion has been an ultimate cheat code for Team USA at all three Olympics he has played in so far. The 35-year-old has led his team to three gold medals.
He is only behind Carmelo Anthony as the player with most gold medals in basketball at the Olympics. If Team USA manages to win gold at these Olympic Games, he will likely become the undisputed leader in almost all categories among USA players.
Kevin Durant is also the all-time leading scorer for Team USA at the Olympics. He has scored a total of 435 points in 22 games that he has played in the Summer Games. With the contest against Serbia, he has officially left Carmelo Anthony behind by over 100 points.
Moreover, he has also scored at least 20 points in every game that he has played. Durant led his team in scoring at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. In the 2012 London Olympics, Durant averaged 19.5 points in eight games, shooting 48.5% from the field. He again averaged 19.4 points in the Rio Olympics in 2016, shooting 57.8% from the field.
The Phoenix Suns star was the leader in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics also for Team USA. He led the team with 20.7 points per game in six games, shooting 52.9% from the field. Overall, Kevin Durant averages 19.8 points per game from three Olympics.
As Team USA dominated Serbia with a dominant 110-84 win, Durant took just one shot in the second half. Throughout the game, Durant dominated the offensive end along with LeBron James. He scored points and shot 8 of 9 from the field. He also shot 5 of 5 shots from the three-point line.
What is even more impressive is the fact that Durant didn't play a single exhibition game for Team USA. The team played five exhibition games and went 5-0 without Kevin Durant. This surely looked like a statement game from the NBA star and his Team USA. They have set the tone for the Olympics from the very first game as they face South Sudan in the next matchup on July 30. Nikola Jokic was the highest scorer in Serbia, scoring 20 points.
