Klay Thompson has made headlines over the last few days for an Instagram post he shared after passing Reggie Miller for fifth all-time in 3-pointers made on Wednesday. Thompson praised Miller in the post, raising eyebrows after a hot take.
In the caption of his post, Thompson labeled Miller as "the greatest to ever shoot it" over his former teammate Steph Curry. This left many to believe the Mavericks star was shading the two-time MVP and all-time leader in 3-pointers.
"One of my favorite memories along with journey was working out for the Knicks in June 2011, and Donnie Walsh told me how much I reminded him of (Reggie Miller). That meant the world to me and inspired me to never stop shooting. Salute to the greatest to ever shoot it @reggiemillertnt! Thanks for the blueprint OG!"

Though surprising, Thompson was likely trying to show love to one of the first 3-point sharpshooters in Miller, who helped shape the importance of the 3-pointer in today's NBA, rather than throwing shade at his former teammate. After facing questions from the post, Thompson clarified his caption in the comments.
"My man lemme clarify, I wrote this caption with my childhood in mind," Thompson assured fans. "And at the time Reggie was the standard for off-guards and off-ball movement along with shot-making. We all know 30 is the (greatest) shooter."
Mavericks suffer loss in Klay Thompson's record-breaking game
Dallas couldn't muster a win in Klay Thompson's landmark performance, suffering a 105-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. The Mavericks lost superstar point guard Luka Doncic, who left the game in the second quarter with a left calf strain.
Without Doncic, Dallas was unable to overcome a 16-point second-quarter performance despite 39 points on 14-of-27 shooting from Kyrie Irving. Thompson finished with 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks, connecting on four of his 10 3-point attempts.
Thompson is finding his stride in his new role in Dallas as the Mavericks' third-leading scorer. In 27 appearances this season, he is averaging 14.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 38.5% from 3-point range.
