Klay Thompson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are two players on the Orlando Magic's radar ahead of free agency. The team is set to make short-term term-big money offers for the veterans as both names continue to do the rounds in the trade market.

Recent reports suggest that one of these players could be offered a two-year, $50 million deal. Orlando is one of the few teams in the NBA that enter the offseason with ample cap space, and they are looking to put it to good use by roping in seasoned names to bolster their championship aspirations.

From a contract standpoint, the Golden State Warriors have offered a two-year contract to the 4x NBA champion as they look to run it back with their 'Big 3' alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Reports suggested soon after that there was no traction with Magic either, although the latest shows what the front office could offer Klay Thompson

Caldwell-Pope will be a free agent this summer after he declined a $15 million contract from the Denver Nuggets. He was acquired by the team ahead of the 2022-23 season as part of a four-player trade with the Washington Wizards.

Denver and the guard reached an agreement for a two-year, $30.1 million extension upon the acquisition. The 2x NBA champion is expected to have multiple suitors given his two-way play skillset in the league.

Can Klay Thompson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit paydirt in free agency?

While reports suggest that Klay Thompson is looking for a multi-year deal, the latest does see the Magic taking the same route as the Warriors with a two-year contract. It's worth noting that the 34-year-old had a rather forgettable season as his play on both ends of the floor saw a dip.

He ended this past season with an average of 17.9 points per game — his lowest since his 2012-13 season. He also notched up 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from the three-point line.

At the time of writing, the consensus in Golden State's fold is that Klay Thompson will test the market, and hopefully return to work a conducive deal — one that's more lucrative.

The situation is different with Caldwell-Pope. He averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his 76 regular season starts for the Nuggets. His pesky defense and downtown sniping make him a valuable asset for any team that's looking to add an edge on both ends of the floor. Chances are that he will make more moolah with a different team this season.
