Kyle Filipowski's fiancee Caitlin Hutchison blocks social media engagement after 'grooming' accusations

Kyle Filipowski was selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. The former Duke player got engaged to his girlfriend, Caitlin Hutchison, in April of this year. However, after accusations of "grooming" her boyfriend, Hutchison has blocked her social media engagements and changed her Instagram account from public to private.

According to Jonathan Givony from ESPN, Filipowski’s relationship with Hutchison could have been one of the reasons that his selection was pushed from round one to round two. Givony also alluded to his estrangement from his own family, including his mother and his brother.

"NBA teams are talking about the fact that they had question marks about his girlfriend being so much older than him, why was he estranged from his family because of this whole situation," Givony said.

"He apparently doesn’t talk to his parents or his brother and it’s a very, very odd situation."

The controversy regarding Kyle Filipowski’s relationship with Caitlin Hutchison began when Kyle’s mother and brother both publicly accused Hutchison of grooming Filipowski.

His mother, Becky Filipowski, accused Hutchison of convincing his son to break ties with his family. Later, his brother Daniel Filipowski also accused Hutchison of "grooming" his brother and said that it was her “lifelong scheme."

Caitlin Hutchison was born in September 1996 and is a little over seven years older than Kyle Filipowski, who was born in Nov. 2003. Her father, Kevin Hutchison, is a military veteran and also a sports coach. Not much is known about her mother, Amanda Hutchison.

According to Page Six, Kyle and Caitlin started dating just a month after his 18th birthday in November 2021. According to their birthdays, when Kyle celebrated his 18th birthday, she was 25 years old.

According to the the social media post by the Jazz rookie, Filipowski and Caitlin Hutchison got engaged on April 19 this year. Posting a picture with Hutchison, Kyle wrote:

“Forever.”

Hutchison graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Kinesiology, and Exercise Science from the University of Alabama in 2018. She eventually went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Administration at LSU Shreveport.
