Utah Jazz rookie Kyle Filipowski made his fourth start on Thursday as Utah faced Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA’s only game of the night. Filipowski, a Duke alum, was selected No. 32 overall in the 2024 NBA draft.
Coming off a career-best performance with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocks against the Phoenix Suns, Filipowski quickly made his mark against Dallas, leading the Jazz with 13 first-half points on a flawless 6-for-6 shooting from the field, including one 3-pointer.
However, Dallas held a slim 64-61 lead at the half.
Filipowski went silent in the second half, scoring just one point. He finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Below are Kyle Filipowski's complete stats.
Jazz coach Will Hardy in awe of Kyle Filipowski’s versatility
Kyle Filipowski, previously projected as a late-lottery to mid-first-round pick, was an appealing option for teams needing a forward with size and scoring versatility. However, he slipped to the second round, where the Jazz picked him up.
His playing style shows similarities to his now-teammate Lauri Markkanen and former Jazz forward Kelly Olynyk, though Filipowski is younger and more raw.
The 7-footer gave glimpses of his ball-handling and scoring abilities during the NCAA tournament, even though his athleticism didn’t fully shine. Nonetheless, his high basketball IQ is a valuable asset in today’s game.
Jazz head coach Will Hardy has commended Filipowski’s versatility, calling it a “luxury.”
“We can put him [Filipowski] in a variety of spots, he can space the floor some, he can play around the elbow area as a facilitator,” Hardy said via NBA.com. “It’s definitely a luxury to have.”
Kyle Filipowski is averaging 6.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 54.5%, mostly in a reserve role. In his first three games as a starter, he averaged 7.0 ppg and 5.3 rpg.
One area he continues to refine is his playmaking.
“It [playmaking ability] kind of came natural, to be honest," Filipowski said. "Growing up I remember in fourth grade I was doing that sort of stuff, like bringing the ball up the court. I just kept that as part of my game as I grew and got older because I knew it made my game very unique.”
Despite being the Jazz’s lowest pick in the 2024 rookie class, Filipowski has shown the most promise, as first-round selections Cody Williams and Isaiah Collier are still finding their rhythm.
