2K Sports has released the latest handles ratings for NBA 2K25, which is topped by Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks. Irving is known as one of the best ball-handlers in NBA history, so it's not surprising that he has a better rating than his teammate Luka Doncic and Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
Irving got a 99 rating for his handles, which is justified, considering he could have the best ever in that category. Curry came in second with 97, followed by Trae Young with 96, while James Harden and Doncic were tied at 95 apiece.
So, what's the secret to Kyrie Irving's handles? The Dallas Mavericks guard revealed in an interview with Bleacher Report in 2013 when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers that it was from practicing his moves to thinking of ways to counter defenders.

"Everybody always asks, 'What did you do as a kid to get your handle like this?' And I tell them, 'I just practiced simple moves first like crossovers, between the legs, behind the back, and then I would work on combinations in isolation situations by myself.
"Then I would have counters to every move, always being prepared for that, not only that second move, but that third, fourth, fifth move just in case," Irving said.
The one-time NBA champion added that he has a lot of moves in his bag because he wants to keep defenders guessing. It's just a simple but complicated way of thinking for one of the best dribblers the game has ever seen. He said:
"You always want to have those just-in-case moves in your repertoire. You want to keep the defense guessing.
"I don't want guys to know this is the move I'm going to do right now just because they watched it on film. If he knows what move I'm going to do, I'm going to have about two, three counters to it. That's kind of how I practiced it."
Kyrie Irving undergoes surgery on fractured left hand
Kyrie Irving helped the Dallas Mavericks reach the NBA Finals last season, losing to the Boston Celtics in five games. The Mavericks upgraded their shooters this offseason, signing Klay Thompson to help them knock down open 3-point shots.
However, the Mavs will need to hope that Irving will be fully healthy at the start of training camp. The 32-year-old star guard underwent surgery to repair a fractured left hand last month. He suffered it during training, but there were no other details released and timeline provided.
NBA training camp starts in September, so it gives Irving plenty of time to get his health back and be ready for another potential run.
