After the LA Lakers' NBA Cup schedule was released on Thursday, the NBA announced the full schedule for the 2024-25 regular season. For the Lakers, the regular season will tip-off on Oct. 22, when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves in a highly anticipated inter-conference matchup.
The game will mark the start of a highly anticipated 2024-25 season for LA. After a first-round exit in the playoffs last year, the franchise parted ways with coach Darvin Ham, ultimately bringing NBA veteran JJ Redick as Ham's replacement.
Additionally, this summer, the LA Lakers drafted LeBron James' son, Bronny James, in the second round of the NBA Draft, further adding to the intrigue surrounding the season ahead.

In a highly anticipated game, LeBron James will return Cleveland, where he and the Lakers play the Cavaliers on Oct. 30. On Nov. 15, the Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs in the first game of the NBA Cup Group Play round.
The game will not only mark the beginning of the NBA Cup but also pit James and the LA Lakers against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs following James & Wembanyama's gold medal clash earlier this month.

Looking further at key games for the LA Lakers in the 2024-25 NBA season
When looking at the LA Lakers' regular season schedule for the season ahead, in addition to the two aforementioned games, and the other three NBA Cup Group Play games scheduled for November, several other games stand out as marquee games for the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The following week, after the Lakers and the Spurs play in their opening game of the NBA Cup, LA will play the Denver Nuggets for the first time this season on Nov. 23, following Nikola Jokic and Co. sending James and the Lakers packing in back-to-back years in the NBA Playoffs.
On Christmas Day, the team will face off with the Golden State Warriors, with LeBron James and Steph Curry facing off against one another for the 53rd time in their careers.
Curry currently has the regular season lead with 12 wins to James' 11, however, LA famously eliminated Golden State in the Play-In Tournament last season to crush the Warriors' championship hopes and bring an end to the big three era in Golden State.
The two teams will play again three more times throughout the rest of the season, with games scheduled for Jan. 25, Feb. 6, and Apr. 3.
The team is looking to return to playoff contention and make a run at the NBA Finals after inking LeBron James to a two-year extension this offseason. At the same time, with JJ Redick eager to prove himself as a coach, the 2024-25 season ahead is sure to be a big one for the Lakers.
