With the NBA offseason wrapping up, Media Day for the 2024-25 season is fast approaching. For the LA Lakers and 27 other teams, the proceedings will take place on Monday, Sept. 30.
LA's Media Day coverage is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, California. The team will kick off training camp for the upcoming campaign a day later.
The Lakers had a relatively quiet offseason, not making any high-profile additions. Nevertheless, there will likely be a hectic Media Day frenzy surrounding their 2024 NBA draft picks, Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

James, in particular, should draw a considerable crowd as he participates in his first Media Day alongside his father, LA superstar forward LeBron James.
The event will follow up Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka and rookie coach JJ Redick's Wednesday press conference at UCLA Health Training Center.
During the duo's media availability session, they touched on various topics. Those include the franchise's latest roster changes, player health updates, projected lineups, areas of improvement and future roster moves.
Pelinka also highlighted LA's players and staff's excitement for the upcoming season.
"The energy in the gym has been at an all-time high," Pelinka said. "You guys know we brought in a lot of new staff members. Just to see the buy-in from the players and the work that’s being done, the advancements that are being made, the attention to detail that’s going on has been really, really exciting."
When do LA Lakers begin 2024-25 NBA preseason and regular season?
Following Media Day, LA will begin preseason on Oct. 4 against the reigning Western Conference finalist Minnesota Timberwolves. The contest, which takes place at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California, marks the organization's first of six preseason outings.
The Lakers will wrap up their preseason slate on the road against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 18. Four days later, they will tip off their 2024-25 regular-season schedule with a home matchup against Minnesota. LA lost its 2023-24 season series against the Timberwolves 3-1, so it will likely face a tough challenge on opening night.
The Lakers, headlined by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, are coming off a seventh-place West finish (47-35). The squad suffered a 4-1 first-round 2024 playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Thus, LA will attempt to avenge itself following its early postseason exit.
