The NBA will open the 2023-24 season with a highly-anticipated rematch of last season’s Western Conference finals between the LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and crew will head to Mile High City to take on the defending champs. The Nuggets will have their ring ceremony before the game, which will be the first time in franchise history. James and the Lakers will try to ruin it with a statement win.
Just a few months ago, there was no rivalry between the two teams. Things have quickly changed, though, after the Nuggets’ comments and championship parade celebration went viral. Davis told the reporters on media day that he and James are raring to play on Tuesday night.
Anthony Davis set the tone of the rematch when he said this to Harrison Faigen:
"It was just a lot of like, the talking, and 'the Lakers' dad.' There was just so much of that going on. It was like, 'All right, we get it. Y'all won.' But me and [LeBron James] had some conversations like, 'We can't wait.'"
