Lakers' Anthony Davis waxes lyrical about sharing the court with Steph Curry: "Phenomenal to play with"

NBA: Playoffs-Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers' Anthony Davis waxes lyrical about sharing the court with Steph Curry (Imagn)

After being longtime rivals in the NBA, Anthony Davis and Steph Curry will now have the chance to play on the same team. Team USA is already preparing to take on the Paris Olympic Games challenge later this month and the two superstars have made their way to Las Vegas.

Steph was the first to arrive out of all the players, while Davis joined LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and others. Davis is already saying great things about Curry and when he was asked about having the chance to play with the Warriors star in scrimmages, he didn't mince words.

“I’ll tell you what, this guy named Steph Curry is phenomenal to play with. He was on my team today and I got so many open looks," Davis explained in a short video.

Steph Curry has been a player who demands extra attention from opponents. He's a serious threat from a distance and whenever he has the ball, it's highly likely that one teammate will be open. That, apparently, was Anthony Davis today, and the Lakers star sounded very excited about it.

After a poor performance in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Team USA is keen to get back at the top of international basketball during the Olympics.

Steve Kerr gets honest on 'good problem' regarding Steph Curry, star-studded squad

Team USA head coach Steve Kerr will have the responsibility of leading all the legends on the roster this year to the gold medal. After plenty of players declined the opportunity to play for the country last year, this summer is the complete opposite. One could argue that the 12 best American players in the league are here.

Steve Kerr spoke about the challenge of having a roster with all this talent, admitting that it's a good problem to have.

“It’s a good problem to have,” Kerr said (per AP). “I’m guessing that all 12 players on this roster will be in the Hall of Fame someday. So, how do you pick five out of 12? The idea is, you find combinations that click, and you find two-way lineups that can be effective at both ends.”
“Our big job in Las Vegas is to find five-man combinations that fit and to just ask all 12 guys to fully commit to the goal of winning a gold medal no matter what it looks like, no matter who’s playing.”

Team USA looks like strong favorites to win the gold medal in the upcoming Olympics. This is probably the last dance for veteran players like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, and they will be looking to leave Paris with the gold.
