The LA Dodgers' NL MVP Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamika Tanaka, made an appearance at the LA Lakers’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena. To commemorate the occasion, the Lakers gifted the couple custom jerseys.
With Ohtani, the do-it-all baseball superstar, in attendance, Lakers fans humorously suggested he step in to help the team. The Lakers were playing without LeBron James for the first time this season due to a foot injury and without Austin Reaves for the fifth consecutive game.
One fan on X (formerly Twitter) suggested:

“Give shohei some minutes. He can probably do way better than our role players."
“Can he play center?” another fan asked.
“Ask him if he can suit up,” another fan said.
Here are other reactions to Shohei Ohtani attending the Lakers game with his wife:
“Don’t let him get Bron addicted to gambling,” one said.
“Wonder if he bet on the game?” another wondered.
“How much help does LeBron need!!!!” another added.
The Lakers have hit a rough patch recently, suffering consecutive road defeats, including a 29-point blowout against the Minnesota Timberwolves and a 41-point loss to the Miami Heat earlier in the week.
On Friday, they fell 134-132 in overtime to the Atlanta Hawks, courtesy of a clutch 3-point dagger from Trae Young.
LeBron James calls Shohei Ohtani unreal
In September, Shohei Ohtani made history as the first player in MLB to join the 50-50 club, recording 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
During a game against the Miami Marlins, Ohtani delivered one of the most remarkable individual performances in baseball history, going 6-for-6 with three home runs, 10 RBIs and two stolen bases.
Ohtani's performance instantly became a historic moment in the sport, leaving LeBron James in awe of the fellow LA superstar.
On X (formerly Twitter), James expressed his amazement with a post that read:
"THIS GUY IS UNREAL!!!! WOWZERS 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾."
Like Ohtani, LeBron James holds his own set of unique records, including being the only player to score 40,000 points in his career.
