Since acquiring Luka Doncic in the most shocking trade of the NBA Trade Deadline this year, the Lakers have surged in the Western Conference standings. While parting ways with Anthony Davis and then having the Mark Williams trade fall through, left some fans concerned over the lack of frontcourt depth, the team has turned defense into one of their biggest strengths of late.

Even though many analysts have discounted the Lakers' chances in the postseason, citing their lack of size, LA fans are as excited as ever. Red Hot Chili Peppers co-founder and Lakers superfan Flea is no exception.

The 62-year-old called in during an ESPN Los Angeles post-game show on Saturday to reveal his thoughts on the exciting pair representing the Purple and Gold, Luka Doncic and LeBron James. He even admitted that the team is starting to feel reminiscent of the Showtime Lakers.

During the call, he pointed out how the Luka Doncic acquisition has had a positive impact on other players like LeBron James.

"I'm excited. They put me in such a good mood now because it's like, it's lifted LeBron up, and there's just this feeling, like, Luka with his court vision and this sort of childlike enthusiasm, this real fun with the game and this passing mentality. We haven't had passing like that since Magic Johnson. Straight up. We have not."

The veteran musician's voice was brimming with enthusiasm as he spoke about the resurgent Lakers. It's no secret that the Doncic trade has injected new vigor in the hearts of LA fans.

Per the NBA's 1:30pm ET injury report, Doncic is 'probable' to play in tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls despite his right ankle sprain, while LeBron James is 'questionable' because of his left groin strain.

While LeBron James is still questionable to play in the LA Lakers' showdown with the Chicago Bulls tonight, the four-time champ has been ramping up his workouts in preparation for a return. In a video shared late in the week, James was seen getting some full-court work in, running up and down the court while dunking on both ends of the floor.

With just 13 games left in the regular season, including tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls, LA will be looking to position themselves for a deep playoff run. Currently, the team is sitting tied with the Denver Nuggets for third place, two games behind the second-place Houston Rockets.

During his ESPN LA call, Flea spoke about the possibility of the superstar duo leading LA to another title:

"The whole team- it's galvanizing around this beautiful thing [Luka Doncic and LeBron's partnership]. And to see LeBron win another championship with the Lakers would just be like an interstellar, cosmic experience."

If James doesn't end up returning to action tonight against the Bulls, look for him to return on Monday when LA faces off against the Orlando Magic.
