On Saturday, LeBron James found himself with a new co-star following news of a trade that left the NBA world in shock. Following the league's latest blockbuster, an insider discussed what it could mean for the 20-time all-star's future.

Reports emerged that the LA Lakers acquired star guard Luka Doncic in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks. However, they parted ways with one of their top players, moving Anthony Davis in the deal.

According to Chris Haynes, James will remain in LA past the trade deadline.

"LeBron James intends to remain a member of the Los Angelas Lakers past the February 6th trade deadline," Haynes said on Sunday.

Following this shake-up to the roster, James has a chance to contend for a title at the age of 40. Doncic is less than a year removed from leading the Mavs to the NBA finals. He'll now attempt to contend alongside an all-time great.

With the second half of the season underway, the Lakers are front and center in the Western Conference playoff picture. They are fifth with a 28-19 record and only trail the fourth-place Denver Nuggets by one game.

LeBron James calls out fake report citing disconnect with Anthony Davis

Since the news of the trade broke on Saturday, there have been countless new developments. LeBron James recently tweeted to call out a report with false information.

While reporting on the news for CBS Sports, Bill Reiter touched on what led to the massive trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis. Among the things he mentioned was that James had a growing frustration with his co-star dating back to last season. James reposted the report on X and said that it was a lie.

"You a fkn lie!!!" James tweeted.

Since Davis was dealt to the Lakers in 2019, he and James two had a good bond on and off the court. Their cohesiveness was evident right away, as they were able to win an NBA championship in their first season together. However, their time together has come to an end after five-and-a-half seasons.

Looking ahead, James has a new name to add to his list of star-level running mates over his 22-year career in the NBA. As a young superstar just starting the prime of his career, Doncic could end up becoming one of his best teammates. As for the Lakers, this also adds another dynamic duo to the franchise's long history of stars.
