LeBron James bleeds Purple and Gold as Lakers stand united amid devastating times

LeBron James and the LA Lakers haven't seen action since Tuesday due to the wildfires that continue to blaze in Los Angeles County. The Lakers postponed their last two home games, against the Charlotte Hornets and the San Antonio Spurs, as LA deals with the horrific event. James tweeted his solidarity with residents as wildfires continue to rage.

As the Purple and Gold players stand united amid disastrous times, James shared a short clip signifying support for the team and the city.

The IG story was the latest of LeBron James' hopes for better times amid the disaster. A week ago, he wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

“Praying for everyone in Southern California!! !”

On Friday, he returned to the social media platform to post:

“I pray the nightmare ends soon!!! [prayer emojis]. So many prayers”

The Palisades, Hurst and Eaton Fires started on Jan. 7, while the Sunset Fire began a day later, per USA Today. Firefighters haven't had much success containing the fire because of winds and lack of water. As the destruction raged, billions of losses in property and business have been reported. LA Lakers coach JJ Redick lost his family home in the fire.

The effort to control the blaze continues as government officials desperately look for ways to curb the damage.

LeBron James and the LA Lakers return to action on Monday

The LA Lakers’ season-long five-game homestand didn't go as expected, as wildfires ravage Los Angeles. The NBA had to postpone the Lakers' games against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday and against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.

The league announced that LeBron James and Co. will return to action on Monday against Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs. LA will win the season series if it beats the Texas-based outfit again. The Lakers edged the Spurs 120-115 on Nov. 15 before whipping them 119-101 in the rematch on Nov. 27.

The postponement benefited James and the Lakers healthwise. James, who has been dealing with a sore left foot, hasn’t played since Jan. 7 when his team lost 118-97 to the Dallas Mavericks. Anthony Davis (foot) and Austin Reaves (back) also get precious rest days.

The Lakers should be raring for another round with the Spurs, who are looking to stay within striking distance of a spot in the play-in tournament.
