LeBron James’ trade rumors to the Golden State Warriors have been circulating since he teamed up with Steph Curry on Team USA, winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the two have since been busy with their respective NBA teams, the buzz remains loud as the idea of two rivals teaming up stays a possibility.
NFL legend and NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe expressed his opinion about the rumors on his show “Nightcap" on Wednesday:
“Did you see how well he and Steph Curry played together in the Olympics? You see how easily Steph be getting shots off because LeBron can see over the entire court, and he can score.
“I don’t think LeBron wants to leave and at this point in time, tell me if LeBron goes somewhere, it’s gonna change somebody’s perception of LeBron. I mean, he’s about to be 40 in about two weeks."

LeBron James, the oldest active player in the NBA today, will be 40 years old on Dec. 30, becoming the only player of such age in the league. James has done almost everything in his career, including winning four titles with three different teams and becoming the league’s all-time leading scorer.
Sharpe said that if James wanted to have the biggest shot at a title, playing with Curry would allow him to do that:
“If that’s what he wants, like, 'Man, five would really look good on my resume, and if I can get five Finals MVPs.' It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me other than him playing meaningful basketball because unless they would make a significant trade with the Lakers, I don’t see them challenging or do much in the West."
As reported by ESPN's Brian Windhorst on Wednesday, LeBron James-to-Warriors is a scenario that Golden State has dreamed of since last year, and the veteran is on the team's radar.
LeBron James proves he can still compete at an elite level this season
LeBron James remains one of the best players in the NBA, averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game for the LA Lakers, which holds a 13-11 record.
James has also logged seven triple-doubles this season, the second-most behind reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic (9). James is also fourth in assists per game, behind Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young, Jokic and Detroit Pistons’ Cade Cunningham.
LeBron James said that he would retire before the “wheels fall off.” His impressive body of work also allowed him to play alongside his son Bronny with the Lakers this season.
