In his 22nd NBA season, LeBron James continues to make NBA history with every passing game. Just four days after his 40th birthday, King James broke another record versus the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

In the fourth quarter of the LA Lakers's eventual 119-102 victory, James sunk a 17-foot fadeaway from the left wing to reach 30 points for the game, passing Michael Jordan for the most 30-point games in NBA history. The two were tied with 562 such games.

"It's very humbling," James said after the game. He also shared a five-word caption on Instagram to commemorate the achievement.

"THANK YOU for the INSPIRATION," James captioned his post.

The all-time leading scorer also moved up to fourth on the all-time total games played list, passing Dirk Nowitzki with 1,523 games. He now trails Vince Carter, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Parish on the list.

LeBron James shines in win over Hawks

LeBron James broke his latest record in a heroic individual performance. With the help of some key contributors in LA's rotation, James led the way in the win, notching 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting, with eight assists and three rebounds.

Anthony Davis, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves and Max Christie each chipped in double-figure scoring marks alongside the four-time MVP. Davis scored 18 points with a game-high 19 rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks in a well-rounded effort.

Reaves scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and provided six assists. Hachimura and Knecht each scored 13 points, shooting a combined 10-of-16 from the field. LA overcame Trae Young's 33-point performance, who distributed nine assists in an admirable individual performance.

Atlanta forced 19 turnovers versus the Lakers but couldn't capitalize, scoring 14 points off of turnovers. The Hawks shot 41 percent from the field and an abysmal 17.6% from beyond the arc. The Lakers punished Atlanta on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 56 to 39.

LeBron James and the Lakers will be back in action on Sunday night, when they will take on the Houston Rockets in front of a hostile crowd at the Toyota Center.
