LeBron James reacted to his mother Gloria's touching message to him on his 40th birthday on Instagram. The LA Lakers superstar is playing his 21st NBA season, trying to win his fifth championship despite his age and all the years he's been in the league.

On Monday, Gloria James celebrated her son on Instagram, showing how proud she is of "King James" and everything he's done to be where he is at this moment.

"Oh my son!" She wrote. "There are sooooooo many great things that I can say about you. But they still wouldn’t be enough to say how proud and honored that I am and have been to be your Mother. Happy 40th Birthday. May God bless you with many more. Love you, Mama."

James shared this post on his Instagram story, adding brown hearts and sparkle emojis.

LeBron James has been making history for a couple of years, especially after he turned 35 and kept playing at the best level. Even though he's not as explosive as before, James has known how to adapt his game to stay relevant and is one of the 20 or 25 best players in the NBA.

His first game is tonight, coincidentally against his first team in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Lakers will return to action on Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Skip Bayless congratulates LeBron James on 40th birthday

While LeBron James' biggest supporter shared a special message for him, his biggest hater had a similar message to the four-time NBA champion.

Skip Bayless congratulated James on the special date instead of taking digs, praising the positive aspects of his game.

"Happy 40th birthday, LeBron Raymone James Sr.," Bayless said on 'The Skip Bayless Show.' "Today, the greatest gift I can give you is just dozens of roses without a single thorn. All compliments without a single criticism."

The veteran analyst lauded James' abilities as a passer and at-rim finisher.

"Bron, you are still the best passer in basketball at age 40," Bayless said. "... You're also the greatest basket attacker ever. I have never ever seen anything like your ability to play bully ball, even at age 40. You're the greatest combination of force and finesse that I've ever seen."

More than that, he lauded his durability by talking about how James has eluded serious injuries over the years.
