LeBron James and Team USA made their Paris Olympic debut on Sunday against Serbia. After dominating the European giants in a pre-Olympic match in Abu Dhabi, Team USA was ready to get the second win against Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic and company.
LeBron James finished the first quarter of the game as the second-best scorer in his squad behind Kevin Durant's six points. He scored five points after shooting 2-for-2 from the field and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line.
The LA Lakers superstar added one rebound to his account and two assists, including a lob to Anthony Edwards, to finish the first quarter on a high note.
Despite Kevin Durant's dominance, James had an active second quarter as well. The King concluded the first half with 12 points after making his first three-pointer of the game while remaining perfect on five field-goal attempts. James also had three rebounds and four assists, but his turnovers were a worry (four in the half).

As James and Durant locked in, Team USA finished the half up 58-49, with LeBron showing that he's the clear leader of the squad in 13 minutes of action. He didn't have the best numbers during the preparation games, but once the real competition started, LeBron James showed up.
The second half of the game was different for LeBron James. He scored nine points to finish the game with 21 points, becoming the second-best scorer on the team and helping Kevin Durant (23 points) lead the squad to a notable first win in the Olympic tournament.
Although his approach was different for the second half, the forward still got his scoring going. James played 26 minutes, focusing on more than scoring, adding seven rebounds and nine assists to his account. He finished with six turnovers, but it didn't make a difference as the Americans got the 110-84 win over Serbia.
LeBron James has the sixth most assists in Olympics history
Before this duel started, LeBron James had 88 assists in his Olympic basketball career. After dishing seven more, he surpassed Andrew Gaze and Sun Fengwu and Shane Heal with 97 dimes. He trails former Cavs teammate Matthew Dellavedova (98) and Manu Ginobili (107), two players who could get surpassed by James in the next game.
Sarunas Jasikevicius, Sarunas Marciulionis and Toni Kukoc sit at the top three with 160, 121 and 112 assists, respectively. LeBron James and Team USA face South Sudan next Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET in their second group stage game.
