LeBron James and the LA Lakers continued a four-game road trip with a matchup against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The four-time MVP opened the game with a layup off a pass from Dalton Knecht. He had 10 points in the first quarter but the Lakers trailed 34-26 after the end of the period.
James added eight more points in the second quarter. He went 8-for-11 but missed another 3-pointer. The 20-time All-Star also contributed four assists and one steal. The Lakers faced a 69-52 deficit heading into the second half.
LeBron James had nine points and four assists in the third quarter against his former team. The LA Lakers needed everything they could get out of the four-time champ as the Miami Heat clamped down on defense, holding their visitors to 20 points in the period.
James’ 3-pointer with 8:55 remaining in the quarter broke his string of consecutive misses from behind the arc. He now sits in seventh place with his 2,451st triple to move past Kyle Korver in the all-time 3-pointers made list.

King James added four points in the fourth quarter before the Lakers gave up. JJ Redick removed the 20x All-Star with 8:44 left in the game. The former Heat watched from the sidelines as Jimmy Butler and Co. cruised to a 134-93 win.
LeBron James had to carry LA Lakers' offense with Anthony Davis having an off night
Anthony Davis came into the game against the Miami Heat averaging 27.8 points per game. He finished Wednesday's game with eight points on 3-for-14 shooting. Because of his struggles, LeBron James had to carry the LA Lakers' offense.
James had 18 first-half points but hardly got any help. Dalton Knecht, the team's resident sharpshooter, ended the night with two points. D'Angelo Russell tallied 12 points on 13 shots.
The soon-to-be 40-year-old James, playing in his 22nd season, had to do the heavy lifting. What he did wasn't enough as the Miami Heat drubbed the Lakers in front of a sellout crowd.
