NBA fans were on the case of superstar LeBron James after a video of basketball Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen criticizing him for the "lack of clutch" in his game resurfaced on social media.
In 2019, Pippen, who won six NBA titles playing alongside Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls, threw shade at James on ESPN's First Take. He hit out at 'The King' for lacking the take-charge mentality that Jordan and the late great Kobe Bryant had.
A video of Pippen's ESPN appearance resurfaced on Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, providing an avenue for fans to lash out at LeBron James. Below are what some of them wrote in the comments section.
One fan reiterated what he believes is already a known fact about the game of the four-time NBA champion, writing:

"Lebum ... he runs away when the game is on the line. We all know that."
"He's never been clutch, he's always inbounding the ball or running away from the ball in clutch situations," another with a similar take said.
One comment from a user said:
"Lebron won't even shoot in the clutch unless he's wide open or has a layup. He's always passing to other players and expecting them to close.'"
Some fans, meanwhile, went to lengths to give their take on LeBron James as a player in general.
"He's been known to be passive at times his whole career. Plus, I feel like he overhypes himself when he does make good plays because he wants to prove a point to his critics. MJ and Kobe didn't give a f**k," one fan asserted.
"He's never been clutch you [clown emoji] thats why he needed superteams in order for him to win because he's terrible in the clutch," a user said."
There were some fans, though, who came to the defense of LeBron James, with providing receipts of him being clutch in games.
"Despite what STATS say' how does that even work??? If the stats says he puts the ball in the hoop at a high efficiency in clutch moments then he is clutch," one fan put out.
"Most game winner in the playoffs, but he ain't clutch; keep talking stupid s**t please," another one shared.
Interestingly, while Pippen doesn't see clutch in LeBron James, he spoke highly on his First Take appearance about the abilties of Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook..
LeBron James says he basks in clutch situations
Some may not be sold on the clutch abilities of LeBron James, but he said that it's a situation he basks in and thrives at.
He spoke about it in on The Shop, sharing his mindset during moments he needs to deliever in crucial points of games. LeBron James said (via Lakers Nation):
"What's going in my head? Like you said it's in slow motion, I slow it down as well. It's just about trying to be patient, not to try to be over-exertive or try to pre-determine what I'm going to do. It's just kind of read and react.
"Will that always result in a make? No, I wish. I wish it would go in every single time, but I try to put myself in position that make the right play or come home for the team every single time..."
James was clutch for Team USA, leading them to the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, winning the tournament MVP in the process.
