Former President of the United States Barack Obama visited LeBron James and the rest of Team USA at their 50th anniversary party on Tuesday night. Obama dapped up the players on stage although some fans can't help but compare it to the viral "Key & Peele" skit from years ago.
In the video below, Obama can be seen dapping up players such as Anthony Edwards, Steph Curry, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He then shook hands with other staff of Team USA before giving a hug to coaches Erik Spoelstra and Steve Kerr.
USA Basketball celebrated its 50th anniversary at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Members of the men's and women's teams were present as well as other legendary players who wore the United States colors in international competitions like Cheryl Miller, Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoopes, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade among others.

Some NBA fans can't help but compare the video of Barack Obama dapping up Team USA players to the viral meme from the popular "Key & Peele" sketch. It was when Jordan Peele portrayed Obama, who was dapping up black people and shaking hands with white people.
"Obama dapping up the Team USA players, this is literally the Key & Peele skit," one fan wrote.
"Lmfao.. there's no way this isn't in the back of his head while doing this. So fkn cool," a fan wondered.
"Obama just did the Key & Peele handshake skit in real life. We need this man back in office," another fan commented.
Fans even noticed how reluctant Erik Spoelstra and Steve Kerr were to hug Barack Obama. Some even compared Spoelstra to Keegan Michael Key's character, who was 1/8th black, in the viral skit.
"And Coach Spo is like the quarter black one in the vid that doesn't get the full dap but it's more than just a handshake too," a fan remarked.
"LMAOO the way he did Kerr," another fan wrote.
"When he got to Spo he had to verify that '1/8th black,' one fan commented.
Barack Obama gives 10-minute speech at USA Basketball 50th anniversary party
Some people were surprised when Barack Obama arrived at the USA Basketball 50th anniversary party in Las Vegas. Obama is a huge fan of the sport and has even invited NBA players to play pick-up games back when he was still in office.
The former POTUS delivered a 10-minute speech during the ceremony and encouraged the players to take home the gold in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
"I just want to come here to, obviously, help send off the soon-to-be gold-medal winners. But I want to come by and say thank you to the legends who have represented USA Basketball and America for 50 years now," Obama said. [H/T USA Today]
