LA Lakers fans are in shambles after their crosstown rivals, the LA Clippers signed coach Tyronn Lue to a contract extension on Wednesday. Ever since Darvin Ham was fired on May 3, Lue was considered a candidate to replace him.

Shams Charania reported that the Clippers secured a "multiyear extension" with Lue.

Fans reacted to the news, including Lakers fans, who seem to be coming to terms that JJ Redick may be their new coach. The majority of fans agreed that the former player, who works as an ESPN analyst, is headed to SoCal to join the Lakers.

"JJ Redick really gonna be the lakers coach lmao. I am dying," one fan wrote.

"LAKERS WHAT HAPPENED," another fan said.

"Tyron Lue to the Lakers is off the table, bro get ready to see JJ Redick on the Lakers' bench as the new coach, man," somebody claimed.

A group of fans claimed that the move was the Clippers' response to the Lakers' reported interest in Lue, who has a successful history with LeBron James. The two won the 2016 NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

One fan shared a graphic showing which coaches should join the Lakers next.

The Lakers fired Darvin Ham, a former Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach, after two seasons. The list of candidates to take over the team included JJ Redick, James Borrego, Kenny Atkinson and Sam Cassell.

Given the recent developments, it looks like one candidate stands out above the rest.

According to Lakers insider Anthony Irwin, the team has zeroed in on JJ Redick to take over the team this offseason. The retired sharpshooter has a good relationship with LeBron James. They became podcast partners this year.

On May 21, Shams Charania reported that in LeBron James' "perfect world," Tyronn Lue would be his new coach. However, the situation is now unlikely for the King and his team, which could result in Redick taking the job.

Reddick has zero experience coaching at any level, but his basketball IQ and the relationship he has with players seem to be attractive to the Lakers.
