The LA Lakers made a league-altering trade ahead of the NBA's cut-off, adding former Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. LA sent 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis and third-year guard Max Christie to Dallas, along with a first-round pick, pulling off one of the biggest trades in league history.

Doncic and his fiancee, Anamaria Goltes, headed west and touched down in LA late last week following the trade. The All-NBA guard is already gelling in the community, taking notice of the damage caused by the wildfires that ravaged the greater LA area.

On Monday afternoon, Doncic joined the rebuilding efforts, announcing a $500,000 donation from the Luka Doncic Foundation with a post to Instagram.

"It's been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA. I can't believe it, and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools and the places where they used to play with their friends," Doncic said in his statement.

Doncic's message continues to announce the generous donation.

"Today my foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields that were destroyed because every kid needs a safe place to play."

His fiancee shared the post on her Instagram story, captioning it with hearts to show her love for her husband-to-be.

Doncic and Goltes have been together since 2016, welcoming their first child in 2023. Prior to the birth of their daughter, Doncic proposed to his now-fiancee during the NBA offseason in Slovenia.

Luka Doncic gearing up for Laker debut

Luka Doncic's donation from his foundation was just hours ahead of the tip-off of his Lakers debut. LA has kept Doncic sidelined for two games following the trade to allow the superstar guard additional time to recover from his calf strain.

The five-time All-Star will suit up for the first time since his calf injury on Christmas Day versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has appeared in 22 games this season, entering Monday's matchup, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game.

The Lakers will take on the Utah Jazz in front of a friendly crowd at Crypto.com Arena, looking to extend their win streak to six games. LA has been surging leading up to Doncic's debut, winning nine of their last 10 games.
