Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks began the 2024-25 NBA season at home against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks, coming off their first NBA Finals appearance since 2011, got their season off to a positive start with a 120-109 win.
After a slow start in the first half, Doncic came alive in the second to finish the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. He shot just 36.0% from the field, but it was understandable given that he missed the preseason with an injury.
Klay Thompson had a great debut with 22 points, seven rebounds and three steals, hitting six 3-point shots. Kyrie Irving added 15 points, while Dereck Lively II scored 15 off the bench.
