Over the past few days, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans stars Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson have been participating in Jordan Brand's "China Family Tour." During the tour's latest stop, the duo teamed up in a street ball contest. One of their viral highlight plays left fans fantasizing about them joining forces in the NBA.
Doncic and Williamson are two of four Jordan Brand-sponsored NBA stars who embarked on the company's tour of Shanghai and Beijing. They joined the Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum and Orlando Magic's Paolo Banchero. The expedition is part of Jordan Brand's efforts to grow basketball's popularity in China and inspire the country's youth.
Over the weekend, the tour stopped at the Next Stop Dongdan streetball tournament. There, the four NBA stars matched up against prominent Chinese street ballers.

On one play, Doncic and Williamson ran a quick give-and-go action, resulting in the latter converting a two-handed alley-oop finish.
Doncic is widely regarded as one of the NBA's top perimeter scorers and playmakers. Meanwhile, when healthy, Williamson, who reportedly slimmed down this offseason, is considered one of the league's most electric rim finishers. Thus, many fans on X, formerly Twitter, gushed over the thought of them creating a dynamic one-two punch in Dallas.
"Luka is honestly the best fit for Zion, the best lob passer in the game and the perfect pick-and-roll ball handler," @NarayanSomesh said.
" Zion on the Mavs would be f**king nuts," @justingelina_ wrote.
"Imagine this duo, though," @_SQBX said.
Meanwhile, others called for Doncic to begin recruiting Williamson to the Mavericks.
"Get him in Dallas now," @Alejand51136509 said.
"Bring him down, he's only nine hours away!!!" @cj099769 wrote.
"It really is a Luka recruitment offseason," @JasonMo72475206 said.

Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson appear unlikely to team up in Dallas in near future
Fans may be excited about the idea of Zion Williamson joining Luka Doncic and the reigning Western Conference champion Mavericks. However, the move appears unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Williamson, who signed a five-year, $197.2 million contract extension in 2022, is locked under contract until the end of the 2027-28 season. Meanwhile, he is still only 24 years old, so his prime years should be ahead of him.
New Orleans also made a sizeable trade to bolster its playoff-caliber roster around the two-time All-Star this offseason, acquiring Atlanta Hawks star guard Dejounte Murray. Following the deal, Murray expressed a desire to help Williamson reach another level, raving about his skill set.
"That’s our superstar, and I’m excited to push him," Murray said. "I told him I’m going to push him. ... I’m excited to push him to the next level because there are a bunch of levels he can reach."
So, barring an unforeseen trade request, the Pelicans appear at least a couple of years away from considering moving on from Williamson.
