Magic Johnson shared on social media his thoughts on Bronny James' future in the NBA. The young James has faced harsh criticism from both fans and analysts for his performance in the summer league and the preseason, but the Lakers legend believes he will have a role in LA.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Johnson expressed his sentiments about James and his potential for the Lakers. The former LA point guard pointed out that the young James possesses a skillset that can't be taught.

"I have to tell you Bronny James is going to be a really good basketball player," Johnson said. "He showed he has a few things you simply can't teach-high basketball IQ, athleticism, and a competitive spirit that makes him a tenacious defender!"
"I believe after a lot of hard work this season, he’ll definitely be in the Lakers’ rotation and playing heavy minutes."

Bronny James had a breakout performance against the Golden State Warriors in the Lakers' final preseason game on Friday. He put up 17 points, four rebounds and three steals, although the Warriors decimated the Lakers 132-74, James' performance was enough to prompt Johnson to share his thoughts.

A few minutes later, Johnson made another post talking about how James could eventually become a key role player like Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves.

"Basketball fans, Bronny James is in good hands with the Lakers, who are great with developing talent. Two names that I can name recently that I’ve seen firsthand are Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves, who both are starters in the league today. Bronny will be next."

NBA: Preseason-Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors

Bronny James has completed his first series of NBA preseason games. Despite the negativity that surrounded him heading into the 2024-25 season, his debut was one of the most anticipated events in basketball this year. The James family made history in the preseason as Bronny and LeBron became the first-ever active father-son duo to play simultaneously in the league.

Before Bronny got drafted, fans and analysts pointed out that the young James wasn't ready for the big leagues. After witnessing his preseason performances, it seems that he has yet to win the basketball world over.

Throughout six preseason games, James averaged 4.1 points and 1.6 rebounds. With numbers like those, it's understandable why some remain doubtful about Bronny. The good news is that the young James will be playing alongside his father for the entire season, giving him the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest of all time.
