One of the biggest events of the 2024-25 NBA season was when the Dallas Mavericks traded away Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis. While it's been months since the deal happened, many Mavs fans haven't moved on and are demanding a change in the front office.
On Tuesday morning, general manager Nico Harrison and CEO Rick Welts met with select media members. He revisited the blockbuster trade but allowed no recordings. NBA insider Marc Stein was one of the few people invited to the session.
During the presser, Stein gave updates on what answers the front office has to certain questions. According to the insider, the management compared the Doncic trade to the Andrew Bogut-Monta Ellis deal.

Eventually, fans found out about what Harrison said. They weren't fond of the statement from Harrison and the front office and revealed their frustration with the management.
"Warriors had Klay waiting in the wings, Mavs have………….Jaden Hardy??" a fan said.
"Didn’t think Nico could manage making this trade even worse. Hope he ups his security lmao," another fan said.
"They have no clue how good Luka is, Nico really thinks Kyrie is on par with Luka," one fan commented.
Other fans couldn't believe what the Dallas franchise said about the trade.
"Wait was this a real quote???????" a fan asked.
"This gets crazier and crazier every day," another fan said.
"I've just never seen a more incompetent org," one fan commented.
In 2012, Monta Ellis was traded by the Golden State Warriors to the Milwaukee Bucks for Andrew Bogut. It gave the team a chance to hand the keys to Steph Curry.
The Mavericks have no regrets trading Doncic away
The Mavericks invited select media members ahead of their crucial Play-In game. Dallas is set to face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, aiming to secure a playoff berth.
Nico Harrison stated he has no obligation to fans, despite their disappointment over the Luka Doncic trade, emphasizing his loyalty to the Dallas organization.
Insider Tim Cato got to share it with the fans on X.
"My obligation is to the Dallas Mavericks, it's what's the best interest of the Dallas Mavericks… Some of those decisions are going to be unpopular maybe to Dirk and maybe to the fans, but my obligation is to the Dallas Mavericks," Harrison said via Cato.
Many still thought it was bizarre for the organization to hold a presser without giving the media a way to record what was said.
