By taking Brandon Miller with the second overall pick in the 2023 draft, the Charlotte Hornets secured a potential cornerstone piece next to LaMelo Ball for the future. While this team has some potential, they are unlikely to be considered title contenders just yet.
However, Miller has high hopes for the Hornets for the 2024-25 season. In an interview with HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the incoming NBA sophomore shared that he thinks the Hornets are playoff-bound.
The young forward can't be faulted for being optimistic about his team's immediate future. However, not all the fans are on his side.

"Yeah maybe in 2030," @34GotAura replied.
"Love the confidence but y’all winning 30 games," @imoto36 said.
"Right y'all and the [Detroit] Pistons," @TRogersblackmon tweeted.
Not everyone supported Brandon Miller's take, but some fans shared his optimism while stating that health will be an important factor.
"If they stay healthy they fighting for a play in spot so he ain’t far off," SLICK_GOT_YA pointed out.
"If LaMelo [Ball] actually stays healthy, they can make the play in for sure," @philsportsguru chimed in.
"Him and Lamelo healthy is way scarier than what ppl think," @Bryce2Legette said.
Historically, Charlotte hasn't had much success as a franchise. They've only made the playoffs 10 times since their inception in 1988. This includes the years when they were known as the Bobcats. In fact, the last time that this team was in the postseason was in 2016.
Last season, they only won 21 games, but that can be attributed to LaMelo Ball being sidelined for most of the season with an ankle injury. He only suited up for 22 games all year.
Meanwhile, Brandon Miller had a promising start to his NBA career. He put up 17.3 points per game in his rookie season, shooting 44 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from 3-point range. Those numbers show that he is a capable scorer. Miller finished third in Rookie of the Year voting behind Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.
Brandon Miller talks about his personal goals for the 2024-25 season
Brandon Miller's predictions for the Charlotte Hornets as well as his personal goals aren't too far from each other. He wants to win, and he shared this aspiration with Michael Scotto.
When asked about his goal for the upcoming NBA season, he said:
"My main goal is to win. I think everything comes after that as far as any of the awards."
Brandon Miller also talked about Charles Lee, who is the newest Hornets head coach. Miller mentioned that he hopes to win a championship with Lee while referring to the coach's previous championship experience.
While this is Charles Lee's first season as a head coach, he has been an assistant for some time. He was a part of Mike Budenholzer's coaching staff when he was the Atlanta Hawks head coach, and when Budenholzer became the Milwaukee Bucks head coach, Lee followed.
Lee was an assistant for the Bucks when they won the 2021 NBA championship against the Phoenix Suns.
