James had 10 points in the first quarter, while Scotty Pippen Jr. kept Memphis afloat with nine points. Pippen Jr. previously played for the Lakers and has a chip on his shoulder every time he gets matched up against his former team. He's in the starting lineup with Morant out with a hip injury.

In the second quarter, the Lakers' lead reached 14 points and could have been in control if they hadn't gotten lackadaisical on defense. The Grizzlies fought back to trim the lead to just a point at the end of the half.

The Memphis Grizzlies took over in the third quarter, taking advantage of Anthony Davis' foul troubles. Davis committed four fouls in the period, including his fifth foul with around three minutes left. He was less aggressive after picking up his fourth and had to be subbed out after number five.

LeBron James had to carry the Lakers in Davis' absence, but Memphis had a nine-point lead at some point in the third. The final period was a back-and-forth affair before AD changed the game with his 3-point shooting.
