Memphis Grizzlies vs San Antonio Spurs Game Summary

The Memphis Grizzlies came in hot, building a 10-2 lead early in the first quarter before the San Antonio Spurs prevented more damage. The hosts were able to get back in the game and even took the lead. Keldon Johnson gave San Antonio a huge boost with nine points off the bench.

Ja Morant was the difference maker for the Grizzlies in the first 12 minutes, scoring eight points. Jaren Jackson Jr. was limited to just two points, while Victor Wembanyama had five points and three blocks as the Spurs took a 30-28 lead heading into the second quarter.

It was a back-and-forth affair before halftime until the Spurs went on a 10-0 run to end the half. Devin Vassell came alive and scored nine points in the period, while Wembanyama added five blocks to his already impressive tally to give his team a 63-51 advantage.

While the San Antonio Spurs appeared to be taking over and making it a blowout, the Memphis Grizzlies had other ideas. The Grizzlies outscored the Spurs 43-25 in the third quarter to turn the game around and get control of it instead.

Ja Morant showed no fear of attacking the basket despite Victor Wembanyama's presence. Things then became easier for Memphis in the fourth quarter, preventing any Spurs comeback attempts from materializing. The Grizzlies ended up beating San Antonio 35-27 in the final period to get the easy 129-115 triumph.

The two teams are back at it again on Friday night for their second matchup in three days. The San Antonio Spurs surely want to fix the mistakes they made tonight and get their revenge on the Memphis Grizzlies.
