Rapper and songwriter GloRilla was thrilled after her music played during her home team Memphis Grizzlies' NBA Cup game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. She took to social media to express her excitement and appreciation for her city.
The Grizzlies chose to have the Memphis native's viral "Eugh Eugh" start of her "Whatchu Kno About Me" song for every basket the Grizzlies made to hype up the crowd and rally the team.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), GloRilla showed her appreciation for what the Memphis squad did, writing:
"Every time da grizzlies scored the DJ played me saying "EUGH EUGH' LMAOOOO I luv my city."

The "Eugh Eugh" phrase, which has gone viral on TikTok, is from GloRilla's "Whatchu Kno About Me" song, which was done in collaboration with fellow female rapper Sexyy Red, from her debut studio album 'Glorious' released in October.
The artist, Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was a product of Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School in Memphis. She started as a singer but eventually gravitated to rapping.
Memphis Grizzlies win first NBA Cup game
With GloRilla's music booming in the background, the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 120-109 on Friday.
All-Star Ja Morant led the home team to the victory, finishing with 27 points and seven assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. backstopped him with 23 points and eight rebounds, with Santi Aldama adding 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Their stellar play helped Memphis have control from the get-go.
The Pelicans tried to come up with a win but with several key pieces out injured, they found the going tough as they slumped to their seventh straight defeat. CJ McCollum top-scored for New Orleans on Friday with 30 points, with Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III adding 21 points apiece.
The win, meanwhile. was the first for the Grizzlies in the NBA In-Season Tournament after finishing last year's campaign with a 0-4 record and starting the 2024 edition with two straight losses. They are fourth in West Group C with a 1-2 record, with their final game set for Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
But before they plunge back into their NBA Cup game, the Grizzlies (13-7) will play the Indiana Pacers in a regular season game on Sunday at home.
