Over the past few weeks, the Miami Heat have constantly found themselves in headlines due to the Jimmy Butler saga. The organization is now dealing with more publicity after it was just named in a sexual assault case.
On Wednesday afternoon, reports emerged that the Heat have been brought up in a sexual assault lawsuit involving UFC legend Conor McGregor. The incident occured when the former champion was in attendance for the 2023 NBA Finals.
According to reports, a woman anonymously filed a lawsuit aganst McGregor accusing him of sexually assaulting her. The Miami Heat were brought into this because it allegedly occured at the Kaseya Center. Arena staff are also being accused of serving McGregor excessive amounts of alcohol despite him being visibly intoxicated.
"An anonymous woman filed a lawsuit Tuesday night in Florida, saying McGregor sexually assaulted her at an NBA game in 2023. The Miami Heat, who were hosting a 2023 Finals game, are also named as defendants for overserving McGregor.

The suit alleges that team and arena staff continued to supply the boxer with alcoholic beverages after he was clearly intoxicated."
The woman is seeking a payment over $75,000 in this lawsuit to cover medical, litigation and other costs.
Miami reached the NBA Finals for the second time in four years, in 2023, but was unable to secure the title, falling short to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on the game's biggest stage.
Conor McGregor also had incident with Miami Heat mascot during NBA Finals appearance
Conor McGregor's appearance to the Miami Heat's NBA Finals game has now become infamous, as numerous stories have emerged from it. Along with these sexual assault allegations, the former UFC fighter also had an incident with a mascot.
During a stoppage in the game, McGregor had an on-court skit with the Miami Heat's mascot. It was supposed to be a promotion for his athletic recovery spray TIDL but ended up taking a sharp turn. McGregor landed numerous blows to the mascot's head, resulting in the person needing to be sent to the hospital.
According to reports, this incident was also brought up in the sexual assault lawsuit.
"The lawsuit also mentions an earlier incident with McGregor that evening, when he twice punched the Heat mascot, "Burnie," during an on-court skit promoting a pain relief spray -- sending the man to the hospital. The suit alleges the mascot's injuries were known to arena staff but not to the general public during the game."
Following this now controversial visit, the Heat decided to cut back on their dealings with McGregor. TIDL was reportedly supposed to become the team's jersey sponsor after 2023, but the organization decided not to move forward with it.
