Miami Heat vs LA Clippers Game Summary
The Miami Heat faced the LA Clippers in the resumption of basketball in Los Angeles following the postponement of games due to wildfires. Monday’s Heat-Clippers matchup was the first of two meetings this season between the two teams.
Tyler Herro opened the game with a bang, dropping 12 points in the first quarter on near-perfect shooting. He added four assists and three rebounds to push Miami to a 35-28 lead after the first 12 minutes ended.
The host Clippers leaned on a balanced attack led by Ivica Zubac, who had seven points and four rebounds, and James Harden. Zubac took advantage of Bam Adebayo's (lower back) absence.
Herro and Zubac still had hot hands in the second quarter but the period was a defensive struggle. The Clippers edged the Heat 15-13 to trail 48-43 at halftime.
The Clippers put together their best stretch on both ends against the Heat in the third quarter. LA scored 36 points and limited Miami to 20 to take control of the game. James Harden led the charge with 13 points and four assists, while Norman Powell contributed 11 points and two assists.
A 9-2 run to open the fourth quarter by the Clippers allowed them to cruise to a 109-98 victory. Tyler Herro, Haywood Highsmith and Jaime Jaquez Jr. tried to flip the game in Miami's favor, but LA responded with timely stops and shots.
