Dwyane Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his career in Miami. During that time, he won three titles (2006, 2012, 2013) and was also the Finals MVP in his first championship. He also earned 12 All-Star nods and was named to two All-NBA first teams (2009-2010), three All-NBA second and three All-NBA third teams. He also led the NBA in scoring in 2008-09 with 30.2 points per game.

He had a brief stint playing for the Chicago Bulls in 2016-17 and half a season with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017-18. He was traded back to the Heat midway through that year and played the final season of his career with the Heat in 2018-19, earning his 13th and final All-Star nod.

Wade's jersey was retired by the Heat in 2020, and he was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.

What was the moment that inspired Dwyane Wade's statue design?

Dwyane Wade had plenty of legendary moments with the Miami Heat, but eventually, the designers settled on a moment from the 2008-09 season.

On March 9, 2009, the Heat hosted one of their intra-conference rivals, the Chicago Bulls. The game was tightly contested and four quarters were not enough to decide an outcome. In fact, the game needed two overtime periods.

The game was still uncertain toward the end of the second overtime, with the score tied at 127 with only 11 seconds remaining. The Bulls took a timeout to set up a game-winning play. The ball ended up in the hands of guard John Salmons who was being defended by forward Udonis Haslem.

Salmons went for a behind-the-back dribble to create separation, but Wade suddenly forced a turnover.

Wade outran multiple Bulls defenders, got a look at the basket from the top of the 3-point line, launched a leaning jumper, and sank it just as the clock expired.

After draining the game-winner, Wade jumped onto the scorer's table and made the proclamation:

"This is my house."
