Michael Jordan coveted Charlotte Hornets to draft Victor Wembanyama to make decision on selling franchise 

Over the past few months, there has been rumors of Michael Jordan possibly selling the Charlotte Hornets. While he is one of the greatest players ever, his run as an owner has not seem similar success.

Recently, news broke of Michael Jordan weighing his decision on the draft lottery. The Hornets had one of the best odds, and found themselves with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 draft. However, Jordan was hoping this was the year luck fell their way and they secured the top pick.

The 2023 class is headlined by 7-foot-4 French big man Victor Wembanyama. He has been a social media sensation all year, and some believe that he might be the best prospect ever in the history of the sport.

Landing the first pick would have been ideal for Jordan if he is indeed trying to sell. Bringing in a prospect of that caliber could've instantly raised the value of the franchise. Jordan is a successful businessman, and isn't going to part with the Charlotte Hornets until the time is right.

Should Michael Jordan still sell the Charlotte Hornets following the draft lottery?

Even though the Charlotte Hornets didn't win the draft lottery, Michael Jordan should still be open to selling the franchise. Missing out on Victor Wembanyama is tough, but the team can still walk away with a high-level prospect to set them up for the future.

Outside of Wembanyama, there are players with high ceilings in the upcoming draft class. Two of the names that stand out the most are Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller. Either player would be an instant upgrade to Charlotte's roster.

Since Jordan bought stake in the Hornets, they've failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs. This season, they had one of the worst records in the NBA at 27-55.

Even though they don't have Wembanyama, the Hornets have their star of the future that will make the franchise more valuable. LaMelo Ball missed most of this year due to injury, but when healthy, he is one of the top point guards in the league.

There is no denying that Jordan is one of the most influential people in the history in the NBA. That being said, the time has come for him to end his run as an owner. Change from top to bottom might be what the Hornets need to change the trajectory of the franchise.
