Fans found it hilarious when the Boston Celtics rested some of their players on their 117-113 win over the LA Clippers on Wednesday. Following that, they'll play against the LA Lakers on Thursday before traveling to Dallas on Saturday. The players who didn't suit up for their Clippers game, will play against the Lakers.

On Wednesday, Boston listed veterans Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis. In their showdown against their longtime rival, however, the team's injury report is clean. No player will be unavailable for their matchup.

Fans thought it was funny and revealed their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter).

"I guarantee Jordan never went through this." a fan said.
"It seems like every injury in the league gets better when they play against the Lakers. What kind of sorcery is this?" another fan commented.
"See what I'm saying, bro. It's always against the Lakers. Everyone plays us like it's their NBA finals.🤡🤣" a fan posted on X.

Other fans pointed out that the game will be nationally televised and Boston is simply following the rules. Additionally, a few fans said that because of the team's rivalry against each other, the coaching staff decided to rest some players before the game.

"I mean it’s a rivalry game why y’all scared of competition 😂," a fan said.
"I mean this is how is supposed to be. Greatest rivalry, all players that can play should play," another fan commented.
"Wanna remind everyone that it’s a nationally televised game tonight," one fan reminded others about the rules.

Celtics legend reignites rivalry with the Lakers

Celtics legend Paul Pierce loves throwing shade at the Lakers. On Wednesday, Pierce was part of the broadcast and he addressed the rivalry that his former team has with the Los Angeles team. According to him, he's enjoying himself teasing fans of the Purple & Gold team since Boston won the 2024 championship.

Now a resident of Los Angeles, the 2008 Finals MVP always lets Laker fans know that his former team has more championships. He also teased fans that their favorite team might not win a championship anytime soon.

Boston and Los Angeles lead the league in championship counts. In 2020, they were tied 17 apiece. However, that changed last season when Jaylen Brown led the team to their first title since 2008.

The defending champions have a shot at winning another title as soon as they have a solid group around their stars. In the 2024-25 season, they are among the favorites to win the Larry O'Brien trophy.
