"Michael Jordan retired a Wizard” – Jaylen Brown typifies 6X NBA champion, talking about his future with Boston Celtics

Golden State Warriors v Boston Celtics
Jaylen Brown discusses future with Boston Celtics

Jaylen Brown still has one year left on his contract, but is already looking towards the horizon. The All-Star forward recently opened up on the long-term plans of his career.

Since being drafted third overall back in 2016, Jaylen Brown has had a successful run with the Boston Celtics. He's become a multi-time All-Star and has been part of multiple deep playoff runs. Alongside fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum, they have established themselves as one of the most dynamic duos in the NBA.

During a recent sit-down interview with Logan Murdock of The Ringer, Brown talked about his future. He enjoys what he has with the Boston Celtics, but understands life can take you anywhere. He even brought up that even the all-time greats typically don't finish their journey where it began.

“We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct.

“If it’s your whole career, it’s your whole career. If it’s not, it’s not. Some of the greatest players of all time haven’t finished with their organization. Michael Jordan retired a Wizard. As much as we like it here and enjoy being here, you see where life takes you."

Should the Boston Celtics do everything they can to keep Jaylen Brown?

While it is still a year away, the Boston Celtics should already be thinking about their future with Jaylen Brown. When he becomes a free agent, multiple teams will be lining up to acquire his services.

At 26 years old, Brown is in the prime of his career. Through 60 games this season, he is averaging 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals. Throughout his career, he's gone from an athletic wing with potential to a legitimate two-way star in the NBA.

It goes without saying that the Celtics should do everything they can to keep Brown long-term. They have a pair of stars in him and Jayson Tatum and should not be looking to break that up anytime soon.

Along with being on the same timeline, Brown and Tatum are an extremely easy duo to build around. Since they can play and defend multiple positions, just about any type of player can be put around them.

It seems like Jaylen Brown doesn't want his time in Boston to end, but will be keeping an open mind when his free agency rolls around.
